Oakfield Parkonians fell to a three-wicket defeat against Division Two rivals Old Southendians in their penultimate match of the season.

With their safety already assured, Oakfield batted first but lost Dhruv Patel cheaply.

Neil Brathwaite (32) and Jibran Azam (20) made starts, with Eshun Kalley and Dave Rai both making 29 in the middle order.

But former Essex bowler Andrew McGarry claimed 5-45 as they were dismissed for 145 in the 35th over and the Southendian openers laid a foundation for victory.

Max Craddock had early support from Rob Johnston (29), but then saw a clutter of wickets fall as Abdul Rehman Razzaq (3-25), Aman Ali and Selvam Ramasamy (2-34) combined for Oakfield.

The home side did not have enough runs on the board, though, and Southendian opener Craddock carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 62, from 135 balls, alongside McGarry as the visitors reached their target in the 50th over.
