Ilford stunned Essex League Premier Division leaders Wanstead at Valentines Park after a superb bowling display by Ashar Zaidi.
The Essex all-rounder, having played in the Natwest T20 Blast at Sussex the night before, ran through the visiting line-up to finish with figures of 13.2-4-18-7 as the Herons were skittled for 59.
And the left-arm spinner’s haul included a hat-trick, as he removed Mohammed Fayyaz Khan, Adnan Akram and Jonathan Das with successive deliveries.
Hussnain Kazmi (2-10) had struck early with the new ball, after Wanstead captain Joe Ellis-Grewal won the toss and chose to bat.
And Zaidi’s haul reduced the visitors to 38-8, before tailenders Zain Shahzad and Jack Lord reached double figures.
Fayyaz Khan (4-23) and Ellis-Grewal reduced Ilford to 17-4, before Saf Imtiaz and Nishad Deven Gabhawala (28 not out) put on 40 for the fifth wicket to take Ilford to the brink of their five-wicket triumph.
