Ilford slipped to Essex League Premier Division defeat in a rain-affected match at Colchester’s Castle Park.
The visitors had reached 101-5 when the weather intervened and an early tea was taken.
Both sides lost 11 of their 50-over allocation as a result and Ilford were all out for 154, with Mohammad Ahktar (28) their top scorer.
Colchester were set a revised target of 149 from 39 overs in reply and Ilford’s Theeban Tavarasa (2-13) struck with the first and fourth balls of their innings.
Hussnain Kazmi had success at the other end to leave the hosts 10-3, with Haaris Ayub dismissing the dangerous Jack Hebron with the score on 34.
Colchester lost two more wickets without addition to find themselves in deep trouble at 34-6, before Ollie Lovejoy put on 61 with Darren Eckford.
Ahktar (2-35) struck again to raise Ilford’s hopes, but Eckford held firm to finish unbeaten on 63 and seal a three-wicket win.
