Hainault & Clayhall saw their Division Two title hopes hit by a heavy defeat at Old Southendian.
The leaders were put into bat at Garon Park and lost Omar Akram with only a single on the board to former Essex staffer Andrew McGarry.
Stand-in captain Mousshin Ismail was then trapped lbw by McGarry with the score on 30 and Rameez Rehman soon followed to leave the visitors 45-3.
Opener Shivan Joshi held firm, but fell four runs short of his half-century with the total on 80.
And Hainault collapsed to 90 all out as McGarry (4-42) and James Bunce (5-23) ran through the rest of the order to share seven wickets for just 10 runs.
Matthew Worsnop struck early with the ball in the home side’s reply, but their second-wicket pair put on 55.
Arshad Mughal and Joshi then picked up wickets for no further addition to make it 57-3, but Southendian cruised to a seven-wicket win in 21.1 overs as Hainault’s lead was cut to three points at the top.
