Hainault & Clayhall clinched the Essex League Division Two title despite a final-day draw at Loughton.

A haul of 11 bonus points ensured they finished three clear of rivals Hutton, who won their derby meeting with Old Brentwoods.

Put into bat at The Uplands, Hainault lost Ryan Hurst, captain Zoheb Sharif (20) and Omar Akram relatively cheaply to find themselves 65-3.

But Etinder Bopara hit two sixes and four fours in his quickfire 31, putting on 62 with Dominic Hurst.

And Hurst added another 134 with Rameez Rehman (49) as he finished unbeaten on 107 from 108 balls, after hitting two sixes and 10 fours.

That saw Hainault close on 261-5 and Bilal Makodia (2-28) had early success with the ball in Loughton’s reply to reduce them to 23-2.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Arshad Mughal, Sagar Joshi, Sharif and Ryan Hurst (3-44) also got in on the act, but the home side held on at 197-8 for a draw.
