Fives & Heronians found some form in Essex League Division Two to spring an upset at third-placed Horndon.

Jake Poulter put the home side into bat after winning the toss and saw Jonny Kay and Ali Raza wipe out the top three with the new ball to leave them 23-3.

And Kay (4-33) had further success, before Poulter and Stuart Knapman (4-14) also got in on the act to dismiss Horndon for 127 in 38 overs.

Terry Ballard hit fours fours in a quickfire 25 off just 13 balls in reply, but Jamza Umer and Fahad Iqbal fell cheaply to leave the visitors 51-3.

Captain Poulter hung around to give Raza further support, contributing just a single to a 25-run stand.

And Raza went on to reach 58 off 55 balls, hitting four sixes and five fours to keep Fives on track.

Two more wickets fell, but Gary Norris (20 not out) and Michael Batt combined forces to see Fives across the finish line to a four-wicket victory in the 33rd over.
