Fives & Heronians fell to a 33-run defeat against Loughton in their Essex League Division Two derby at The Paddock.

Jake Poulter put the visitors into bat after winning the toss and make the breakthrough with the score on 62.

Sarfaraz Ahmed and Stuart Knapman also had success to reduce Loughton to 75-3, but Ewan Risby (27) put on 62 with Bilal Butt, who went on to reach 50 off 76 balls, with a six and six fours.

Knapman (2-47) picked up a second wicket, but John Mills (27), Vithullan Sapaetharan (29 not out) and Andrew Bridges (33 not out) saw Loughton reach 260-6.

And Fives lost an early wicket in reply, before Terry Ballard (31) and Fahad Iqbal put on 59 for the second wicket.

Iqbal hit 14 fours on his way to 72 off 84 balls, but his exit left Fives on 137-5.

And although Ali Raza (31) and Michael Batt (27) made starts, the home side were up against it as Butt (4-47) shone with the ball to lead Loughton to victory.
