Essex opener Nick Browne steered South Woodford to victory over Buckhurst Hill in their Essex League Division One encounter.

Hill chose to bat after winning the toss and got to 142-3, before wickets began to fall at regular intervals.

Saihaj Jaspal finished as the pick of South Woodford’s attack with 3-16, as all five bowlers used had some success to dismiss the home side for 190.

Browne put on 93 for the first wicket with captain Joe Craddock, who hit a six and three fours in his 30.

Kasey Harris fell cheaply, but Bradley Copper and Kabir Rashid both got into double figures to give further support to Browne.

And after Jaspal departed for just a single, Browne went on to complete his century and finished unbeaten on 107 from 127 balls, having hit a six and eight fours.

Harry Neicho struck four boundaries to finish unbeaten on 20, from just 19 balls, as South Woodford moved to within four points of safety with three games remaining.
