Natwest T20 Blast South Group: Glamorgan A Essex A

The rain ruined Essex Eagles chances of building more momentum in Natwest T20 Blast South Group, as their fixture at Glamorgan was abandoned on Sunday.

Wet weather had been forecasted, but Chris Silverwood would have been hoping to see his team claim another victory after thrashing Hampshire on Friday night.

The game at the SSE Swalec was delayed because of rain and just before 3.30pm, an hour after play was scheduled to start, the umpires conceded defeat and abandoned the match.

It leaves Essex sixth in the table with five points after seven games ahead of their next fixture on Thursday.

The Eagles travel to Lord’s to take on rivals Middlesex, who are also struggling and eighth in the standings.

If the weather can stay good for Thursday then Essex will be hoping to get back on track and claim another win to boost their hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages.
