Oakfield club took another big step towards claiming trophy

Hainault moved another step closer to winning the Essex Division Two title with a 47-run win at home to Fives & Heronians last weekend.

After losing the toss, Hainault were put into bat at Oakfield and a top score of 58 from Dominic Hurst saw the hosts reach 222 before being bowled out.

Skipper Zoheb Sharif and Ryan Hurst then took three wickets apiece as Hainault bowled the visitors out for just 175 in reply.

Victory leaves Hainault 17 points clear of Hutton at the top of the table with only a maximum of 25 left to play for.

And Sharif is happy with the position his team find themselves in following the penultimate match of the campaign.

“The win has left us in a good place going into the final weekend of the season,” said Sharif.

“We know what’s required for us to win the title and we feel good after the win against Fives.”
