Cricket: South Woodford legend Garry Neicho earns England over-50 call up

Shed icon to take part in international tournament in South Africa next month
South Woodford Cricket Club’s Garry Neicho is to make his debut for England after being called up to take part in an international over-50s tournament.
The competition, held in Cape Town, South Africa, kicks off on March 17 and also features squads from South Africa, Australia and other international sides.
The South Woodford veteran was selected for his strong performances for the Essex over-50s throughout the 2016 season.
As the 6th highest wicket in the ECB County Over 50’s tournament, Neicho bowled Essex into the national final, where he reocrder figures of 4-21, bringing the county squad to within touching distance of the trophy.
Neicho will be joined in the England squad by Essex over-50s team-mate Mel Hussain, who is the brother of former senior team captain and current Sky Sports pundit Nasser Hussain.
On his call-up, Neicho said “I’m delighted to be selected for the England squad in Cape Town and hoping for an enjoyable and successful tour.”
