Hainault not 39 points clear of Wickford who are third

Hainault skipper Zoheb Sharif admits he was happy his team were able to open up a 39-point gap over Wickford in third after their 35-run success at home to Oakfield Parkonians.

Batting first against Parks, a knock of 45 at the top of the innings from Sharif helped Hainault to 221 before the hosts were bowled out.

As has often been the case this season, the wickets were shared out for Hainault as they dismissed the visitors for 186, with Mousshin Ismail, Arshad Mughal, Matthew Worsnop, Sharif and ryan Hurst each claiming two scalps.

The win kept Hainault joint-top along with Hutton, who defeated Wickford, allowing the top two to open up a gap over the rest of the division, much to Sharif’s delight.

“It wasn’t the best of performances from us and it could have gone either way, but we ground out the win which is a good sign at this stage of the season,” said the Hainault skipper.

“We have a nice gap over third place now, which bodes well going into the next four to five games of the season.”
