Hainault won by 22 runs, but opener far from pleased with batting display

Hainault skipper Zoheb Shairf believes his team turned in one of their worst batting displays of the season on Saturday – despite beating Loughton by 22 runs in Essex Division Two.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Hainault were all out for 231 despite Dominic Hurst top scoring with 73.

Needing a good display with the ball to win, Arshad Mughal took 4-29 to help skittle the visitors out for 209 in reply.

Victory kept Hainault level on points at the top of the table with Hutton, who beat Old Brentwoods by four wickets.

But Sharif was not happy with the display from Hainault despite collecting a seventh victory of the year.

“It was a win, but it was one of the worst, if not the worst, performance we’ve given all season,” admitted Sharif.

“When you don’t play well, it is nice to come out with a win and it’s always a sign of a good team.”
