Home wins on Fairbairn show but mixed fortunes for Gators

A round-up of the youth boxing in Ilford
Fairbairn junior Aaron Lawrence was a good winner on the club’s dinner show at the Prince Regent Hotel, Chigwell when outpointing Jake Frazier (Centurion) on Friday.
The 15-year-old took the unanimous verdict and the bout was also voted the best of the show.
Clubmate Gulshan Nota defeated Joe Gonella (Billericay), but Charlie White (Centurion) earned a points win over the home club’s Taps Makadho.
Fairbairn’s Hamza Namajee outpointed Harry Mehegan (Newham), but Whitstable’s Luke Fordyce saw off Hamza’s younger brother, Zak.
There were also home wins for Haroon Nikai over Billericay’s Jakob Miller and Chrisitan Ozog against Omid Roufs from Kent University.
Fairbairn’s Tyler McTernan lost to visiting fighter Floyd Njene.
Gator had two of their young boxers in action at the weekend, with mixed results
Will Coakley put up a brave fight in his English Schools’ quarter-final in Portsmouth, but came up short and lost on points.
Closer to home, Jamal Berleen was in action at an open-air show in Bromley and got the better of Charlie Hudson, from host club Marvels Lane ABC.
Six Gator youngsters are due to compete in a show at Romford on Saturday.
