Gator stalwart Marcus Bassi Jr. displayed a touch of excellence in the weekend, as he won in the National Schoolboys Championship final.
It was Bassi’s first ever championship, but the promising youngster showed no signs of nerves to triumph.
The Gator prospect dominated his contest against a rival from the Snodland club in Kent.
From the opening bell, Bassi’s quick footwork and combinations had his opponent in trouble.
The young Bassi caught the attention of the judges as he landed powerful blows several times in each round to give himself a comprehensive victory.
Bassi was joined in the finals by five Gator colleagues, but unfortunately was the only prospect to come home a champion.
Bobby Newman, Chris O’Driscoll, Harrison Vickery, Kaizer Syed and Amaan Mohammed all battled well, but came up just short in their bouts.
Despite that, it certainly looks like the future is bright for Gator following the exploits of their younger members.
