Mayfield School’s year 11 boys’ basketball team have won the Redbridge Schools Cup for a third year in a row.

Mayfield were able to record a 61-50 win over Chadwell Heath Academy in a repeat of the 2017 final.

A fast opening saw both teams exchange scores, but some quick baskets from Ilyas Dar and Ayo Alonigan-Lawson gave Mayfield a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mayfield also started the second quarter brightly and continued to control the match over the following two periods against their rivals.

Despite a rally from Chadwell Heath Academy in the final quarter, Mayfield held on to win.
