Barkingside racer Scott Malvern will miss this weekend’s meeting.

Barkingside single seater racer Scott Malvern will not be on the grid for the Donington rounds of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain event this weekend. Malvern had been optimistic that his late deal to compete at the opening event at Brands Hatch could be extended, but his hopes were scuppered by a last minute change in circumstances.

“It is a big disappointment,” he said. “All things considered, and with so little preparation, the performance was pretty good at Brands Hatch even if we didn’t deliver the results that we hoped for due to bad luck more than anything.

“We definitely demonstrated we had pace, posting the fastest lap of the weekend and the new lap record, and made even more progress at the Thruxton test last week.

“Until a day or so ago we were still set to be racing, but unfortunately circumstances changed at the last minute and there isn’t really any way around it. I will still be at Donington assisting the Jamun Team.”

Scott further stated his desire to keep racing: “Naturally it’s frustrating, given what I have achieved in my four seasons of racing, to find myself out of a seat but it’s a tough climate to operate in at the moment. I definitely want to keep racing and winning and will consider all offers,” he added.
