Ryman Division 1N: Barkingside 3 Brentwood 3

Ryman League new boys Barkingside battled back from two goals down to take another point at Oakside last night.

But Matt Frew’s men might have been a little bit disappointed after seeing the visitors grab an 81st-minute equaliser.

Having beaten Chatham by a 3-2 margin on Saturday, thanks to a late winner from Chas Liddiard, Side fell behind midway through the first half as Steve Carvell gave Brentwood the lead.

Carvell doubled the advantage just four minutes later, but Toran Senghore gave the hosts hope with a goal on the stroke of half time.

And the second half was only eight minutes old when Aaron Scott netted to level things up.

Senghore claimed his second on 56 minutes to complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Barkingside, who now found themselves 3-2 up with a third of the match remaining.

But they could not hold onto their lead as Petrit Elbi grabbed an equaliser for Brentwood.

Nonetheless, Frew will probably be pleased with a total of seven points from a possible 12 at this early stage of the season, with his men set to host Witham next on Saturday.

Landlords Redbridge travel into Suffolk to take on Needham Market tonight, having opened their account for the season with a 3-0 win over Soham Town at the weekend.

Ilford, meanwhile, are due to host London Bari in an Essex Senior League cup tie tomorrow (Wednesday), following their exit from the FA Cup at Newmarket Town on Saturday.

Barkingside: Mulrooney, Salmon, Scott, Tiffin, Crossley, Toms, King, Mackin, Liddiard (Edmunds 72), Gulfer, Senghore.
