Bancroft’s girls shoot to National quarter-finals

Bancroft’s School’s under-19 netball team have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Independent Schools’ netball competition.
Following earlier victories against Ipswich High School and St Catherine’s, Bramley, they faced Wycombe Abbey at home on Monday.
The visitors quickly took a 3-0 lead, but Bancroft’s girls steadily caught up to emerge 55-30 winners.
Sophie Luck missed just three chances in the whole game, and Bancroft’s defensive pairing of Kike Solanke and Kris Sim also performed well, while Bethany Lamb made her first-team debut.
There are now just eight schools in the country left in the tournament and the draw for the quarter-finals will be made early next term.
The girls have also been successful in this year’s National netball tournament.
Under-14, 16 and 19 teams from Bancroft’s emerged as Redbridge champions in October and progressed to the County (Essex Met) round.
Bancroft’s teams finished as runners-up in all three age groups and now go through to the regional round on January 29.
The girls will be hoping to follow last year’s success in the tournament when the under-19 team finished as bronze medallists.
