Performance of youngster at Forza 2* event caps fine recent results for badminton stars
Redbridge Sports Centre’s Rajvardhan Gavade claimed second place at the Forza 2* tournament in Leigh-on-Sea.
The eight-year-old competed strongly in the boys’ under-12 singles competition, before losing the final by a single point Ishaan Rakesh.
Gavade then teamed up with Rakesh to triumph in the boys’ doubles even, with Redbridge’s Advay Zore picking up a silver medal.
Patrick McLean-Tattan was emphatic in winning in the boys’ under-14 singles, rarely conceding more than double figures in a game on his way to a gold medal.
At the Essex under-13 bronze tournament, Barath Lakshaman, nine, and Sajan Senthuran, eight, collected bronze medals in the boys singles’ events.
Senthuran played in the plate event and did very well to get to the final four, where he narrowly lost.
Lakshman, meanwhile, beat the second seed in the main draw on his way to the semi-finals, where his luck unfortunately ran out.
It has been another fine set of results for the club’s players.
