Ilford AC youngster Ahmed Abdulle further demonstrated his potential by storming to victory in the Newham 10k.

The teenager raced home in a personal best of 32 minutes and 48 seconds, over two minutes clear of second place.

The next Ilford member home was club captain Billy Green, just the 951 places back in 48.58.

Also in action were Anthony Young (50.14), Rhoan Gabbidon (51.48), Adnan Karim (52.00), Alan Pearl (52.13), Carol Muir (64.50), Natasha Mansouri (65.05) and Brennie Gabbidon (79.13).

Abdulle’s run in the Newham 10k was not the only time over the weekend the youngster had set a PB, having also clocked one at the ‘Fast Friday’ meet in Walthamstow.

Running in the 5,000m on the track, Abdulle clocked 15.04 to finish fifth in his heat.

Also in 5,000m action at the meet was fellow Ilford runner Sam Rahman, who finished in 17.28.

Ilford runner Carlie Qirem was another to run a PB over the past week, hers coming in the RunThrough Chase the Sun Victoria Park 10k where she clocked 48.54.

There was also a contingent of Ilford members in action at the Brentwood 10k, which doubled as the Essex Championships.

Amin Koikai was the first club member home in eight, recording a time of 34.13, and was followed by Malcolm Muir (36.18), Steve Philcox (36.23) and Sam Rahman (37.12).

Also in action for the men were Neil Crisp (38.40), Terry Knightley (39.03), Declan Cullen (43.59) and Steve Parker (45.09).

Philcox’s time saw him triumph in the M50 age group, while Cullen’s run – a new personal best – was enough to earn a bronze medal in the M60 category.

The women were led by Zuzana Sinalova (47.10), followed by Nicola Hopkinson (48.05), Dianne Crisp (49.33), Julia Galea (56.48), Frieda Keane (58.32) and Pam Jones (64.39).

Crisp’s run was certainly a fine effort as she collected the silver medal in the F55 age group.

Dennis Briggs (36.41), Green (38.25), Julie Gillender (54.37) and Jones (54.45) all completed the second Orion Five race of the year.

Race walker Sebastian Parris set a new best of 16.01 in the 3,000m ‘A’ race Southern Counties Senior Inter County Match in Kingston, pipping club mate Mark Culshaw who was fourth in 16.34.
