Ilford AC stalwart John Batchelor claimed four M75 gold medals at the Southern Counties Vets Indoor Championships.

Batchelor started the day in the 800m, clocking two minutes and 56 seconds to place fourth overall among younger men and women.

Just over an hour, the Ilford man moved from fifth to third in the latter stages of the 3000m, again against younger athletes, finishing in 12.52.

Batchelor was then in action in the 400m where he finished fourth overall after clocking an M75 championship best time of 78.16 seconds.

The Ilford man then had only a 15-minute turnaround before competing in the 1500m against athletes of all Masters ages, but still managed to clock 6.35.

Elsewhere, Steve Park was the club’s sole entry at the St Luke’s Hospice Test Track 10k event.

The race takes place on the vehicle test track at Ford Motor Company’s Dunton Technical Centre, with Parker clocking one hour, 15 minutes and 18 seconds.

The final Chingford League race of the season took place at Victoria Park, with four Ilford members in action at the five-mile event.

Dennis Briggs was the first club member home in 109th after clocking 35.29, followed by Carlie Qirem who came 126th after setting a new personal best of 36.32.

Doris Gaga ran the event with Ilford endurance coach Rob Sargent, both clocking 46.29 as they placed 205th and 206th respectively.

Carol Muir was the sole Ilford runner at the Chase the Moon event in the Olympic Park on Valentine’s Day, clocking 33.56 over 5k.

As part of their preparation for the final cross country race of the season, Ilford juniors competed in the Valentines park run on Saturday.

Aaron Samuel led from the off to prove he was back to his best following illness, clocking 17.28 to win the race and set an age grade course record.

Jak Wright was fourth after clocking 18.47 — the first time he had gone under 19 minutes at the park run event.

Bradley Deacon was not too far behind fifth with a new best time of 19.02.

Matthew Hick was 11th in 20.07, with younger brother Andrew crossing in 23.35 to place 54th.

Ryan Holleyman, meanwhile, came 22nd in 20.56
