Romford made it two wins from two at their new home ground with victory over Essex Senior League rivals Woodford Town on Wednesday.

And Clapton and Barkingside were celebrating success in Thurlow Nunn League Division One South, as Tower Hamlets and Clapton Community battled to a draw and Hutton beat Stanway Pegasus 1-0 in a league cup tie.

Boro had begun life at East Thurrock Stadium with a 2-1 victory over Ilford at the weekend and repeated that scoreline against a Woods side who had lost just once in 15 league matches.

The hosts began well, with Michael Turner, Flynn Hamilton and Finlay Dorrell forcing Eddie Allan into saves in the opening 15 minutes.

David Gokou was denied by Scott Doe and Jake Anderson at the other end, while Alex Bolovan fired another chance over, before Anderson saved from Jed Brown-Johnson.

The deadlock was broken six minutes before half-time when Hamilton took a pass from George Cox and split the Woods defence for Morris to tap past the onrushing Allan and into the empty net.

But Woods were back on terms on 56 minutes when Brown-Johnson fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Boro were back in front on 71 minutes, though, when captain Kris Newby sent a low cross in from the left and saw it evade everyone and find the far corner of the net.

Bolovan was dismissed for a second bookable offence, with Boro substitute Amaree Robinson-Jones firing wide from close range moments later.

And after Hassan Nalbant had a shot saved by Allan, the visitors won a last-gasp free-kick on the edge of the box.

Cox was booked for conceding the set-piece, with Luke Parrott shown a red card after the referee consulted his linesman.

And Anderson pushed Gokou's free-kick onto a post to ensure Boro claimed all three points, lifting them up to third in the table, ahead of their FA Vase tie with Crawley Green on Saturday.

Woodford, meanwhile, head to London Lions for their second-round tie.

Clapton came from two goals down to beat Harlow Town 4-2 at the Terence McMillan Stadium, for a third successive home victory.

The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead within 15 minutes, but Clapton hit back through Simon Omope three minutes before half-time.

And the hosts were back on level terms before the hour mark as Jordan Burnett found Erald Desa to score.

Sean Kettle put Clapton ahead, with Desa grabbing his second to seal the points and lift them to 15th in the table ahead of a ย trip to Basildon Town.

Barkingside also fell behind on their travels at Park View, but Fred Agyemang levelled on the half-hour mark.

And Agyemang struck again to take his tally for the season to 15 and secure a 2-1 victory for James Wakeling's men, who now find themselves in 11th place ahead of their FA Vase tie at Stanway Pegasus.

Clapton Community missed out on a chance to take over at the top of the table after a 2-2 draw with east London rivals Tower Hamlets at Mile End Stadium.

Noah Adejokun fired the visitors in front after good work from Fionn Glancy and Terry Amoafo, but Jack Francis was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

The hosts levelled through David Igbuya's powerful shot into the bottom corner, but Fred Taylor fired Clapton Community back in front after a free-kick from James Briggs.

Hamlets hit back for a second time with a backheeled finish from Nas Crespo and only a goalline clearance from Adam Sidky denied them a third from a corner.

They head to St Margaretsbury on Saturday, while Clapton Community look to extend their 13-match unbeaten run at Southend Manor.
