Ilford AC won a Southern League meeting for the first time in many years at Sandy last weekend.

They sent a very strong team for the third SAL meeting of the season and it paid off as they came out on top in the overall standings.

Female sprinters Krystle Balogun, Ayshe and Aleena Lawrence were all first or second in the 100m and 200m and the 4x100m relay.

Jordan Hinds is the busiest female athlete in the Southern League and once again won the 400m, 800m, 1500m and 4x400m relay, running personal bests in the 400m and 800m.

In the long-distance events Anna Crawley won the 800m and came third in the 3,000m, as well as being a member of the 4x400 winning relay team.

Zuzana Sinalova won the B string 3,000m and also ran a leg in the 4x400m.

Ilford AC had two under-17 girls participating in the Southern League for the first time.

Leila Lauder won the B string 400m and came second in the 1500m, as well as being in the winning 4x400m team.

And Stacey Amaniampong won the 100m hurdles, was third in the high jump, third in the long jump and was also in the winning 4x100m team.  

In the men's team, Jordon Duncan finished second in the 100m and won the 200m, while also running in the 4x100m relay team that came home second.

Sprint coach Nat Senior was second in the 100m, was part of the 4x100m team and also found time to throw the shot, while Wayna Williams took third in the 200m and was part of the relay team.

Oliver Blainey won the 400m, as Dylan Harrod took the B string, and both were in the winning 4x400m team.

Ronan Edwards and James Thake won their 800m races with the latter clocking a PB, while Harrod returned to win the B 1500m as Alex Richards came home first in the A string race.

Samuel Crane and Berekhet Berakhy won their respective 3,000m races, with Rhys Edwards third in a strong 110m hurdles field, as Akwasi Nkrumah took second in the B.

The busy Rhys Edwards won the 400m hurdles, 3,000m steeplechase and triple jump as brother Ronan Edwards also wo his 3000m steeplechase race.

Youngster Aaron Hick, running his second ever 400m hurdles, won the B string and ran a strong leg in the winning 4x400 team.

In the field, newcomer Nkrumah won the triple jump, came third in the pole vault, third in the long jump and fourth in the javelin.

Sam Malekout also did well in the javelin, high jump, discuss, shot and pole vault.

Pete Whiting threw the discus and hammer and Jeremiah Brown jumped 1.50m in the high jump.

*Billy Green was Ilford AC's only representative in the ASICS London 10k.

Attracting over 18,000 runners, it is one of the largest 10k races and takes place against the backdrop of many of London’s iconic landmarks.

Green, racing for the first time in almost six months, was pleased with his time of 55.43.
