Redbridge boss George Christou admits it's great to be chasing a treble this season - but promotion is clearly his priority.

Motormen made it 10 successive Essex Senior League wins with a 3-0 victory over Sawbridgeworth Town at the weekend, ahead of a midweek trip to lowly Clapton.

And they visit Barking in the semi-finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy next Tuesday, before hosting Stansted in the last eight of the Errington Challenge Cup 48 hours later - after knocking holders and title rivals Enfield out last week.

Dean Hall and James Barlow netted in the 2-1 success and Christou said: "Both teams have bigger things to worry about and we both shuffled our deck but it was still a good level and we both wanted to win.

"We were good at set-pieces, scoring our first goal from one and the second from a cross. We defended well and it sets up the next game in the league.

"Both clubs have got amazing squads and can have players step into the starting XI and not be any weaker really.

"It gives us a problem as we're playing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday next week but it's great for the club to be fighting on three fronts.

"The boys want to go for all three and it's a case of looking after people, not getting injuries and fighting for promotion.

"We've got a big enough squad and we've relied on the reserves and some dual registrations from step four clubs. But I do want to give four or five from our main XI a rest."

George Purcell struck after just nine minutes on Saturday and, after Jamie Price doubled the lead midway through the second, netted again five minutes from time.

And that kept Motormen five points behind table-topping Enfield, who play Barking, Southend Manor and Little Oakley before the top two meet on March 28.

"A 3-0 scoreline looks easy but it wasn't, they made it difficult for us," added Christou, whose side are unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions.

"The early goal helped us and relaxed us, putting them on edge.

"It's a cliche but every game is massive now and we have to focus on what is next.

"We're in a semi-final and quarter-final and might as well go for it. The league have assured us the finals will be after the league and play-offs, if we finish second.

"We're trying to juggle everyone and the cups are keeping everyone happy.

"It's 10 wins in a row in all competitions, plus 12 clean sheets in a row in the league.

"They can't tell us if that's a record or not but everything is positive, we're in a good space and enjoying our football."
