Football: Oaks Park 4 Ilford County High 2
Oaks Park’s under-13 boys enjoyed a morale-boosting win ahead of two big cup ties this week.
Having suffered a heavy defeat in their previous outing, the Park pupils were determined to make amends and there were chances at both ends in an exciting start.
Park opened the scoring, after making Ilford’s keeper work hard, with a goal from striker Tyrell Holder.
And excellent defensive work by the Park rearguard denied their rivals a reply before Holder turned provider for Howell to make it 2-0.
Holder went on to score twice more to complete his hat-trick and, although Ilford replied with a brace of their own, Park held on for victory.
They take on Brampton Manor in the Essex Cup tomorrow (Tuesday) and Mayfield in the Redbridge Cup the next day.
