Foxes travel to Haringey for ESL Cup quarters

Ilford manager Allan Fenn believes the team’s camaraderie will give them the boost they need to beat Haringey Borough in their Essex Senior League Cup quarter-final.

The Foxes travel to Coles Park to take on title challengers Haringey for a spot in the last four.

But Fenn feels the atmosphere within the club could give them the belief they need to triumph.

“We’ve been looking forward to the tie for a while because it’s been postponed a couple of times,” said Fenn.

“We’ve got a point to prove because we lost 7-1 on our last trip to their ground earlier in the season.

“We’re a confident side that gets on well on and off the pitch. We’ve created a bit of team spirit. We have faith in each other and want to fight for others.”

Cup football has not been kind to the Cricklefields side this year, going out in the first round of the Essex Senior Cup and the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.

However Ilford have managed to progress to the last eight of the Essex Senior League Cup and Fenn is aware it is their only chance to win silverware this season.

“Every competition so far this year has come to early for us in terms of where we were as a team,” added Fenn.

“It’s frustrating as players normally give a little more in cup matches. It’s our last opportunity to win something so we’re going all out for it.”

“Haringey are a very good side. They’re the best footballing side in our league so it will be a tough task to beat them.”
