Football mad youngsters at Snaresbrook Primary School were delighted by a visit from the official Premier League trophy yesterday.

The famous cup was brought to the school in Meadow Walk, Snaresbrook, as part of the campaign Primary Stars.

Coaches from Leyton Orient also visited, and offered the children training sessions throughout the day.

The club has agreed to return for six weekly sessions with a view to establishing a full partnership.

Headteacher Graham Ford described the children as “so enthused and excited”, and praised the work and conduct of the Premier League representatives.

He added that the whole experience was simply a “wonderful, exciting day”.

The school treated it as a non-uniform day, and students and staff alike arrived in their favourite football kits to witness the prize.

The Primary Stars campaign aims to inspire children to “learn, be active and develop important life skills”, and has seen more than 9,000 nominations from 5,000 different primary schools.
