A group of young Ilford footballers have raised nearly £800 for Syrian refugees.
The nine boys aged between six and 12 formed the Ilford Strikers to play in charity tournament, the Ummah Cup.
The event in Newham earlier this month brought 64 teams together to raise money for the Ummah Welfare Trust.
The charity is running an appeal for women and children widowed and orphaned in the ongoing war in Syria.
Donations are used to give families food packs, medical kits and treatment.
Although the Ilford Strikers did not win the under-14s tournament, captain Ubaid Mobeen said the event was worthwhile.
Ubaid, eight, said: “It was hard preparing for the tournament and it was a bit scary playing against much bigger players.
“It was worth it because of the money we raised.”
