A 10-year-old Woodford Green student who has just published her very first book is this week’s Young Citizen nominee.
Tito Adeleye, a year 7 student at Woodford County High School, in High Road, published children’s book The First Discovery this month.
The book tells the story of two young sisters Starshine and Starlight who embark on a magical adventure as they prepare to perform at Starry Stadium.
Antagonist Queen Cara sets out to destroy the show.
But the sisters, despite their young age, overcome her plot and save the day.
“The moral of the book is you are never too young to do great things,” said Tito.
Tito, who started writing at the age of eight, describes what it feels like to be an author.
Tito said, “It’s just unbelievable. I’m still getting my head around the fact that I’m now an author.
“There aren’t even words to describe how joyful I feel whenever I see my book in front of me.
“When I told my friends about my new book, most of them were shocked and didn’t believe it at first.
The book was published with the help of social enterprise Grant a Smile, approached book publishers DVG Star to help Tito fulfil her dreams of being published.
Tito was nominated by Joyce Obaseki, founder of Grant a Smile.
She said, “The first time I read Tito’s writing, I was blown away by her creativity and originality and when she started to work on her book, I immediately began to look for ways to help Tito achieve her dream of being published.
