A 1966 world cup legend paid a visit to Oakfield playing fields on Saturday to lend his support to campaigners vying to save the site from development.
Former Spurs and West Ham striker Jimmy Greaves was a special guest at the Old Parkonians’ annual charity football match, raising money for cystic fibrosis charity Tomorrows.
And Jimmy – who grew up in Hainault – also gave his backing to the Save Oakfield Site campaign, aiming to protect Oakfields after it was included as an option in Redbridge Council’s local development framework for 800 new homes.
