A Woodford Green student has missed out on the chance of becoming the 36th Blue Peter presenter, voted for by CBBC viewers.

Twenty-one-year-old Ben Hunte made it through four weeks of challenges and into the final three but was beaten by Lindsey Russell, 22, from Oxford yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

The new presenter of the world’s longest-running children’s television show was announced as the newest addition to the team as part of the Blue Peter – You Decide! programme.

The Nottingham University student, who has recently completed his degree in psychology and cognitive neuroscience, said it felt “incredible” to be in the final.

More than 20,000 people applied to take part in the show, all keen to compete for the most coveted job in television, and 10 hopefuls made it through to take part in the series.
