LONDON ONE NORTH

Bury St Edmunds 70 Woodford 0

WOODFORD suffered one of the biggest defeats in their history against Bury St Edmunds on Saturday, writes Richard Howard.

Bury's confident running and well-judged ball transfer created numerous overlaps, which allowed the home side to amass six first-half tries.

Four conversions plus two penalties also followed to leave the score 44-0 at the break.

The second half produced a further four tries, with one converted to take the total to 70 points.

With limited possession Woodford could do little but battle against the tide, but they lost the chance to avoid the whitewash by kicking possession away on numerous occasions.

There is no league fixture on Saturday, although Woodford's Flameheads side play a West's Select in a friendly fixture in support of Help for Heroes, the British Forces Charity.

The game is at home and starts at 1.30pm.
