A woman was trapped in her South Woodford home for three days after magazines she had hoarded for years fell on her.
The 61-year-old was discovered with her leg trapped between a bedroom door and doorpost in Chelmsford Road last week.
Woodford firefighters were called to rescue her on Thursday December 13 after her brother became worried.
A firefighter, who did not want to be named, said: “She had gone into the room and everything had toppled on top of her.
“We found her upstairs with piles of rubbish, stuff you would normally throw away.
“There were all kinds of magazines from years ago, everything from girls’ magazines to porn.”
An ambulance took the woman to Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, but she was not thought to be seriously injured.
A London Fire Brigade Spokesman said: “A lot of people hoard but keeping items in stacks can be dangerous when they fall down.
“This woman was there for three days but it could have been longer.
“People should keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours over Christmas.”
