Youngsters from one of Redbridge’s Jewish schools took on 900 fellow Jewish pupils in a national challenge at Wembley Stadium this week

Year 5 pupils at Wohl Jewish Primary School in Forest Road, Barkingside, were treated to a fun-filled day as they went up against representatives of 28 other Jewish schools – including one team from Israel.

It was all part of the annual Etgar Challenge - which tests children on topics including the Jewish Calendar, Jewish History, Israel, Jewish Texts and the Temple.

Wohl pupil Aaron Caplin said: “I really enjoyed the amazing Etgar Challenge and I had loads of fun as we used all the knowledge that we have learned in class.

“Everyone sang and danced together - even me, a boy who never gets up to dance.

“The quiz was quite hard because there were so many questions and activities to do in such a short space of time. The atmosphere was incredible.”
