UPDATE: Traffic is slow after Whalebone Lane South in Chadwell Heath was reopened following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian that left a man in hospital.
Emergency services got to the scene at about 6.50am after reports someone was trapped in a car. When the fire brigade arrived no one needed to be cut out, but paramedics treated a man in his 50s for a leg injury and took him to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
The road was shut northbound for about three hours.
