A manager at a Wanstead pub described the scene after a woman who was rollerblading was hit by a car last night.

The accident happened at around 7.30pm in Kingfisher Avenue near The George pub in Wanstead High Street.

David Gillin, the pub’s duty manager, said patrons went out to see what had happened and people helped the woman, in her 20s, up.

A yellow Ford had one wheel up on the kerb.

Paramedics attended the scene and put the woman in a neck brace.

She was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel as a priority.

Mr Gillin said: “She was responsive, she was crying which could have been from the shock.”

Other eyewitnesses told Mr Gillin the woman had struck the car’s windscreen with her head and cracked the glass.

Mr Gillin said a man in his late 40s had been driving the car, which had been travelling from Wanstead High Street.

No arrests were made.
