Hundreds took part in music making and hip shaking at an international disability awareness event in Wanstead.

Former England Footballer and Wanstead pub landlord Frank Lampard Snr gave an opening address at Festival in the Park, which took place in Christchurch Green, Woodbine Place, on Wednesday, July 18.

Among the hundreds of attendees was Mayor of Redbridge Mayor Cllr Debbie Kaur Thiara and Wanstead Village cllr Daniel Morgan Thomas.

Commenting on the Take That tribute act, Cllr Morgan Thomas said: “It was good fun.

“They didn’t limit themselves to Take That - they also did the Beatles and one of them had a glorious moustache.”

The activities zone included everything from a petting zoo, to tai chi, cricket and football.

The festival aimed to highlight the services available to enable disabled people to be independent, showcasing the latest tech and equipment available and demonstrate what they can do in the fields of sport, arts and entertainment.
