Surrounded by music, theatre, food and laughter, residents were joined by the Mayor of Redbridge councillor Linda Huggett at the event last Friday.

A spokeswoman for the care home, in Cambridge Park, Wanstead, said they had been lucky to have good weather on the day.

She said: “We all had a great time.

“The weather was fantastic, the theatre was good and we had a lovely singer perform in the afternoon.

“Residents really enjoyed the open day along with staff.”

The care home is set to close temporarily to allow the old building to be entirely redeveloped.

The new building will retain the front facade but will overhaul the rest of the structure to create a fully accessible care facility.

Residents are being supported to find suitable new homes.
