Walkers lit up the night sky on Friday to raise money for the Haven House Children’s Hospice in High Road, Woodford Green.

The charity’s annual Glowalk, in which walkers dress in brightly-coloured clothing and hold glo-sticks while taking part in a night walk, raised more than £14,000.

Debbie Douglas, a star of TV show The Only Way Is Essex, launched the walk and was joined by more than 300 walkers.

The 10k illuminating procession started at the hospice and also took in South Woodford and Wanstead.

Mel Field of Darnley Road, Woodford Green, who lost her eight-year-old daughter Molly to cancer, took part.

Her family has raised £46,000 for Haven House.

The hospice’s chief executive said: “It was inspiring to see so many local children and adults glowing and walking in aid of Haven House.”
