Homeowners are proudly showing off their gardens after decorating them as part of an arts initiative.
HomeFront, launched by the organisers of Art Trail Wanstead, tasked members of the public with creating work under the theme Make Art Not War and they have met the challenge head on.
In Redbridge Lane West, Kathy Taylor and Mike Edwards are commemorating the centenary of the First World War with their sandbag artwork “OTT” (over the top).
For the soldiers, over the top meant leaving their trenches to go into No Man’s Land.
Jean Lane and trail founder Donna Mizzi both created work in Rectory Crescent. The former used symbols of peace and 1960s rock and roll items, including a vintage motorbike, while the latter decorated a tree with lollipops.
On Saturday, there will be a fair and workshops from 11am to 4pm at Churchill Hall, in Wanstead Library, Spratt Hall Road.
The 16-day trail will conclude late on Sunday.
