Ursuline student has out-of-this-world trip to NASA headquarters

An ambitious 15-year-old says she had “the time of her life” attending a technology conference in Houston, Texas.

Laiba Khan, 15, who attends the Ursuline Academy, in Morland Road, Ilford, is passionate about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

She was one of five British students chosen to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference.

Laiba said: “It was awesome, I got to meet lots of interesting people.”

“I learnt so much and it opened up doors to new opportunities.”

Laiba, who was chosen as as part of the Student to Stemette programme, attended the event from October 17 to 23.

She said: “My favourite part has to be the trip to NASA. We visited the original mission control and I really enjoyed seeing what life is like in a space ship.”
