The two unions behind the strike action, the TSSA and the RMT, have both announced this afternoon that they are suspending the strike.
Members of the two unions were due to walk out for 24 hours from 5pm on Monday.
Manuel Cortes, general secretary of the TSSA, said: “Our negotiating team at Acas has received a revised offer from Network Rail.
“As a result of this, they have suspended the planned industrial action, pending the outcome of a meeting of our workplace representatives next week.”
Members had backed industrial action following on-going rows over pay and conditions and job security.
When the strike was first announced, the two unions had rejected Network Rail’s offer of a £500 payment to its workers in 2015, pay rises matching inflation in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and a “no compulsory redundancy” commitment until December 31, next year.
