Two men were taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning following an accident on the A406.

Firefighters confirmed the occupants had been thrown from the vehicle when it crashed southbound between the Redbridge and Charlie Brown roundabouts, after the M11 slip road.

Police and the ambulance service also attended the scene of the crash, which happened at about 4.25am.

Ilford fire station, which sent two fire engines and a crew of 10, confirmed one of the men received treatment by Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) doctors.

A station spokesman said: “They had already been ejected from the car when they crashed – they were thrown from the car.”

Metropolitan Police confirmed only one vehicle was involved in the incident.

The crash caused the A406 to be closed with severe disruption southbound.
