Two men arrested following serious car crash in Eastern Avenue

Following a serious car crash on a busy road in Ilford two men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

Firefighters and police officers were called at 1.30am on Thursday, August 30 to reports of a car crash in Eastern Avenue at the junction of Ley Street.

Two vehicles crashed at high speed into a set of traffic flights.

A driver and passenger in one of the cars were temporarily trapped in their vehicle and then taken to hospital following the incident.

A Hertfordshire police spokesman said: “The vehicle involved [in the collision], a grey Audi Q7 had previously been reported as stolen from an address in Borehamwood, Hertforshire on July 31.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and taken into custody.

“Both men, aged 23, have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
