KARATE students from Ilford excelled at Sunday's Kaizen Cup National Open competition, which attracted 100 entrants from around the country.
The talented youngsters picked up a bronze medal as well as two team silvers to show off to the other students at the club in the Cardinal Heenan Centre, Ilford High Road.
Jasmine David, an assistant instructor, but a tournament novice, fought hard and achieved an individual bronze as well as a team silver in the kata events.
Tournament veteran Bella Ursell, the junior team captain, impressed by gaining a silver in team kumite (point fighting).
Ursell, an experienced member of the Kaizen Ryu club, and is now training hard in anticipation for the World Championships in Japan this summer.
