Residents are being urged to take simple steps to secure their property to deter burglary, as part of a new operation tackling crime in Redbridge.
Safer Neighborhood Team officers will be distributing crime prevention leaflets as part of Operation Castle which was launched on Monday.
Sergeant Matt Taylor, of Redbridge Police, said: “We will be increasing our patrols to ensure all that can be done, is being done, to prevent future incidents of burglary. We will use all our powers to deter potential offenders and where evidence exists, we will swiftly arrest the offenders.”
Known offenders will also be visited to ensure they do not reoffend. Victims will also be given advice on how to ensure they are not a repeat victim.
Local businesses will also be approached, including pawnbroker shops, to discuss reporting suspicious activities to the police.
