A 43-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged with 10 offences relating to robbery.

Wayne Colligan, 43, of Daniel Close, Grays, Essex is accused of trying to rob a bank in High Street, Wanstead on May 8 and another offence on January 24.

He is charge with robbery, attempted robbery, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition without a certificate.

He is also charged with possession of fire arm of length less than 30cm, having a firearm with intention of committing an indictable offence and three counts of conspiracy to rob.

He pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey and was released on conditional bail until the trial date set for March 17.

Colligan’s co-defendant, David Cope, 49, of Hewett Road, Dagenham also appeared in court and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob for the two incidents.

He was also bailed and will be tried on March 17.
