Travellers have taken over a car park at Goodmayes Tesco Extra.

Shoppers noticed several vehicles were parked up at the superstore, High Road this morning.

One customer told the Recorder that the arrival could cause an issue for visitors.

“It will cause parking problems as it’s a busy Tesco,” he said.

“The space they have taken up is where the parking overflows.”

Another shopper said the space was strewn with rubbish.

The Recorder contacted Tesco press office and they will be commenting on the situation later.

This is the third sighting of travellers in the borough in as many weeks with residents reporting camps at the former Valentine pub in Gants Hill and at the former Doctor Johnson pub in Clayhall.

A Tesco spokesman said: “We are aware of the caravans in the car park and are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
