Transport company Bombardier has been awarded a £1billion contract to provide trains for the Crossrail scheme.

The organisation will deliver 65 new trains for the service, which will travel through Ilford, Seven Kings, Goodmayes and Chadwell Heath stations.

The development comes after Crossrail staff began work at the Ilford Yard Depot last week. The site, located between Ilford and Seven Kings stations, will be used to stable up to 12 trains and will create nearly 90 jobs once improvements have been completed.

Crossrail services are expected to open in 2018.
